Do you know what success looks like?

If I asked you to share your nonprofit’s “success story,” would you know what to do right away?

Many nonprofits don’t.

You might be surprised to hear that because so many nonprofits are actively:

  • Changing lives.

  • Making a difference.

  • Impacting their communities.

And to the average person, those things all reflect different kinds of “success.” However, until your nonprofit decides exactly what “success” looks like for you… You won’t know how to share a success story.

It can seem intimidating to define such a big concept, but that’s the nice thing about success — it’s entirely subjective.

Depending on your mission/vision/values, success for your nonprofit can look like:

  • Giving out a certain number of resources,

  • Running a program a certain number of times, or

  • Having a certain number of people no longer require your services because they got help/assistance.

But, without knowing what “success” looks like for you, you won’t know if you’ve ever achieved it.  And you won’t know how to share your success story, either.
